Blended Ice Green Tea
A Great Summer Treat

Iced green tea

Blended Ice Green Tea is a cinch to make- and a super healthy way to stay refreshed this summer.

Making iced green tea is not too different to brewing up a cup of hot green tea, you just need to add more

loose leaf green tea, to allow for the extra dilution from the ice.

A Classic Iced Green Tea Recipe

1. Allow 2 1/3 teaspoons of sencha green tea (Buy sencha green tea here) for each cup (250ml/8oz.) of just bolied water (90 degrees C).

2. Steep for 2 minutes in a teapot and then transfer to a jug.

3.Refrigerate until chilled.

4.Serve in glasses with ice.

Below I've added some blended ice green tea recipes I found in 'Green Tea, The Natural Secret for a Healthier Life' by Nadine Taylor (pub. 1998). It's a great book if you'd like to learn all about green tea.

Minty Iced Green Tea

You'll need:

2 handfuls of fresh mint.

1/4 cup honey

1/4 cup lemon juice

4 cups brewed sencha green tea (Need sencha green tea, buy some here). Wash mint and place in a saucepan. Add 1 cup green tea and honey. Bring to a boil and simmer uncovered for 10 minutes. Chill, then strain the mint syrup. Add lemon juice and remaining green tea to mint syrup. Pour over ice in tall glasses and, if desired, garnish with mint sprigs and lemon slices. Makes 4 tall glasses.

Fruity Iced Green Tea

You'll need:

4 cups sencha green tea.

Ice cubes made from fruit juice (such as apple, grape, cranberry or orange).

Place fruit juice ice cubes into tall glasses, and pour tea over them.

Green Tea Float

You'll need:

1 cup freshly brewed sencha green tea
2 scoops vanilla ice cream

Place ice cream in a tall glass and pour tea over it.

Makes one serving.
